FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE | August 11, 2016
CAPE MAY COURT HOUSE – Mary Maher has been named Cape Regional Health System’s Difference Maker Volunteer for the third quarter of 2016. Her award nominators, staff and fellow volunteers commend Mary for exemplifying the Health System’s Service Standards of always being positive, engaged and proactive.
In addition to being an outstanding member of the hospital team, Mary is also a true hero to her family. At a young age, Mary was tragically widowed and went on to raise eight children–sending all to college with most attaining their Master’s Degree. This focus has contributed to Mary’s fine service ethic which is admired by all at Cape Regional. Mary shares, “Volunteering is wonderful and gives me the opportunity to interact with both staff and visitors-I meet the nicest people!” Mary’s nominators note that she is always cheerful and willing to help out whenever needed.
Mary, a Sea Isle City resident, has been a Cape Regional Gift Shop Volunteer since 2002 and to date has contributed more than 8,200 volunteer service hours. In her spare time, Mary pursues her passion for reading–often reading as many as five books per week! She also enjoys leisurely walks and spending time with her expansive family which includes 16 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
During the award presentation, Joanne Carrocino, FACHE, President and CEO, Thomas Piratzky, Vice President of Public Relations and Marketing, and Julie Paolella, Director of Volunteer Services, joined with volunteers and staff members in honoring her with the Difference Maker Volunteer Award. Mary was presented with flowers, a Difference Maker Volunteer pin, a gift card and commemorative plaque.
